Chris Fulmer talks about “Literally Figurative”
Posted on March 2nd, 2010 No comments“Literally Figurative” was the name given to an art exhibition recently held in Kathmandu, Nepal with art works by current and former students of Professor Chris Fulmer from North Lake College in Irving, Texas.
The exhibit that took place at the Imago Dei Gallery in Kathmandu lasted for ten days from February 17 to February 26, 2010. The event showcased art works by twenty-five artists from the Art Department at North Lake College in which they demonstrated both experimental and anatomical approaches to the figure drawing using nude as the subject. This event was first of its kind to take place in Nepal. Nudity is still regarded as a taboo in Nepali society. However according to the media news the exhibit was very well received by Nepali public.
Works displayed in the exhibition were created by both current and former students of Professor Chris Fulmer, who had planned to go to Nepal for the exhibition but had to cancel her trip due to the heavy snow storm in Texas. The event was arranged by Kapil Mani Dixit, a former Nepali art student from North Lake College.
In the interview video presented below, Prof. Fulmer talks to us about the exhibition, figure drawing, nude painting, Nepal and Nepali students at North Lake College.
